Types and uses of incubators

Information sources: | Release date: 2018-11-13 09:56:23 | Browse volume:187

There are three main types of incubators currently in use: direct electric heating incubators, biochemical incubators and carbon dioxide incubators.

(1) Electric heating and water-insulating incubators The outer shells of electric heating and water-insulating incubators are usually made of asbestos board or iron sheet spray paint, and the inner layer of the water-insulating incubator is a water-storage interlayer made of copper skin for electric cultivation The interlayer of the box is made of thermal insulation materials such as asbestos or glass wool to enhance the heat preservation effect. The top of the incubator is equipped with a thermometer, which is automatically controlled by a temperature controller to keep the temperature in the box constant. The water-insulating incubator uses electric heating pipes to heat water for heating, while the electric heating incubator uses electric heating wires to directly heat and uses air convection to make the temperature in the box uniform. On the front side of the incubator, there are indicator lights and a temperature adjustment knob. When the power is turned on, the red indicator light is on. Turn the knob to the required scale according to the required temperature. When the temperature is reached, the red indicator light goes out. Indicates that the temperature in the box has reached the required temperature, and then the temperature in the box is automatically controlled by a reliable temperature controller.

  Incubator use and maintenance:

  (1) The cultures in the box should not be over-squeezed to facilitate the convection of hot air, and the door should be closed when putting in or taking out items to avoid temperature fluctuations.

  (2) The electric heating type incubator should put a water container in the box to maintain a certain humidity.

  (3) The water-proof incubator should pay attention to adding water before powering on. At the same time, check the water level frequently and add water in time.

  (4) When the electric heating incubator is in use, the wind top should be properly unscrewed to facilitate the adjustment of the temperature in the box.

  (2) Biochemical incubator This incubator is equipped with electric heating wire heating and compressor cooling at the same time. Therefore, it can be adapted to a large range and can be maintained at a constant temperature throughout the year, so it is gradually popularized. The use and maintenance of this incubator are similar to electric heating incubators. Since the compressor is installed, the precautions for maintenance of the refrigerator should also be observed, such as keeping the voltage stable, not excessively tilting, and cleaning the dust on the radiator in time.

  (3) Carbon dioxide incubator The carbon dioxide incubator is an improvement on the basis of ordinary cultivation, mainly to add CO2 to meet the environment required for cultivating microorganisms. Mainly used for tissue culture and the cultivation of some special microorganisms.

1. Installation and debugging of the CO2 incubator The front of the CO2 incubator has an operating panel with a power switch, temperature regulator (manual and liquid crystal display panel), CO2 injection switch, CO2 adjustment knob, and humidity adjustment knob. , Temperature display panel, CO2 display panel and humidity display panel, carbon dioxide sample hole (used to take samples in the box to detect whether the CO2 in the box reaches the content displayed on the display panel) and alarm device (over temperature warning light) .

  (1) The incubator should be placed in a relatively stable position and far away from heat sources to prevent temperature fluctuations and microbial contamination.

  (2) Before turning on the power, you should add a certain amount of distilled water to the incubator according to the instruction manual (it is better to add a certain amount of disinfectant to the added water, see the instructions for details) to avoid burning the machine.

  (3) When the water is added to a certain amount, the alarm light is on, that is, stop adding water, turn on the power switch, and then start heating, and adjust the temperature controller to the desired temperature.

  (4) When the temperature reaches the required temperature, it will automatically stop heating. When the temperature exceeds the required temperature, the over-temperature warning light will be on and an alarm will sound.

  (5) The CO2 used in the incubator can be liquid CO2 or gas. No matter which type of CO2 is used, the tube should not be too warped to ensure smooth gas flow. Generally, CO2 cylinders are used, and the pressure control gauge can be connected.
